How Bad Bunny’s WWE Venture Fuels Online Apparel Sales

Posted on

Let’s talk about Bad Bunny’s WWE stint and how it has impacted the world of entertainment.

If you’re not already familiar, Bad Bunny, who was named Billboard’s Top Artist of the Year in 2022, has not only conquered the music scene but has also stepped into the world of professional wrestling.

So, how does Bad Bunny’s popularity impact sales for WWE Shop, the official online store of the WWE? Let’s discuss!

From Billboards to Backlash

Just a little while ago, on May 6, 2023, Bad Bunny headlined WWE Backlash, which was held at the iconic Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The event was an absolute spectacle, and Bad Bunny’s star power shone brightly in the wrestling ring.

Now, here’s where things get interesting.

Bad Bunny’s popularity as a musician has seamlessly translated into his involvement with WWE, and this has had a significant impact on his merchandise sales on WWE Shop. We’re not talking about just a slight boost here—we’re talking about a meteoric rise.

In 2021, his apparel line was a top seller on WWE Shop. Bad Bunny’s involvement with WWE has been a major success and has opened up the possibility for more music-sports crossovers in the future.

His crossover into professional wrestling has also helped to introduce WWE to a wider audience, including those who may not have known about the sport before. This type of exposure has opened up new opportunities for both musicians and professional wrestlers alike.

Bad Bunny’s fan base stretches far and wide, encompassing both music enthusiasts and wrestling aficionados. By entering the wrestling ring, he has captured the attention of a whole new audience.

The WWE x Bad Bunny apparel is at the intersection of this crossover, and it has been profitable for everyone involved.

What is Co-Branding, and How Can Modern Apparel Entrepreneurs Leverage It?

Co-branding is when two or more brands join forces to create a new product or undertake a marketing initiative. It’s a collaboration where the combined strength and appeal of the involved brands can create a mutually beneficial outcome. The goal is to leverage each other’s brand equity, customer base, and market positioning to enhance the overall value and perception of the co-branded product or campaign.

In Bad Bunny’s case, co-branding has proven to be an effective way to connect with fans who may have only been familiar with his music. By introducing them to professional wrestling, he has been able to expand his fan base and increase sales of his merchandise.

Is Co-Branding Always Effective?

While co-branding can be a highly effective strategy, it requires careful consideration.

The success of co-branding hinges on the compatibility and synergy between the partnering brands. If the brands have differing target markets, values, or brand images that clash rather than complement each other, the co-branded effort may fall flat. It’s crucial to make sure the partnership makes sense.

It’s also important to consider the potential risks and challenges associated with co-branding. If one brand faces a PR crisis or falls out of favor with consumers, it could negatively impact the co-branded venture.

If done correctly, however, this strategy can be powerful for apparel entrepreneurs, just as it has been for Bad Bunny and the WWE.

Examples of Other Successful Music x Apparel Crossovers

We’ve seen many other famous musicians cross over into the apparel world with massive success. Here are a couple of examples:

Remember when Justin Bieber teamed up with Crocs?

Back in October 2020, Bieber’s fashion label, Drew House, teamed up with Crocs for the first drop. They released a pair of yellow clogs, and they sold out in just minutes! Talk about crazy demand.

Then, in March 2021, they did it again! Bieber and Crocs came together for a second collaboration. This time, they introduced lavender clogs you could customize with colorful shoe pins called “Jibbitz charms.”

The collaboration has been a game-changer for Crocs. It’s helped them achieve record-breaking sales. They’re riding the wave of success, thanks to Justin Bieber’s star power.

selena gomez coach

Selena Gomez x Coach

Selena Gomez’s partnership with Coach was a major hit. Selena Gomez became a brand ambassador and designer for Coach in 2016 with a $10 million deal.

Since then, Coach has seen a significant boost in their social media following. They’ve experienced a 50% increase in followers year over year, and an impressive 81% increase in average likes on social media. It’s clear that Gomez’s involvement has helped Coach gain popularity and connect with users online.

When Gomez released her self-designed bag, called the “Selena Grace” handbag, Coach’s stock prices actually went up by 2% the very next day.

The Selena Gomez x Coach partnership is the epitome of a powerful celebrity collaboration.

How to Leverage the Power of Influence as an Apparel Brand

Bad Bunny’s success in the world of music and sports is definitely inspiring. So, what can we learn from his story?

Collaborating with celebrities and influencers in your industry can be a great way to reach new customers, increase your sales, and build loyalty with existing ones. Whether you’re looking for someone to promote your products or to design something exclusive for your brand, partnering with the right person can make all the difference.

Before making any decisions, make sure you do your research. Identify the type of influencer that’s right for your brand, and make sure they align with your company values. Also, determine the most effective way to communicate with them.

When done correctly, leveraging influence can be a powerful tool for apparel entrepreneurs. Just look at Bad Bunny—he’s proven that a successful crossover into another industry can open up new business opportunities.

Cosmic Trends: What We Can Learn From the Success of Astrology-Inspired Apparel

Posted on

Whether you’re into astrology or not, you can’t ignore that astrology-themed apparel has become a major trend in recent years. Although we’re not necessarily suggesting that you release a line of celestial designs, it’s important to understand why movements like this exist so you can forecast future trends.

Astrology is a complex and ancient practice, but the main idea behind it is that the positioning of celestial bodies influences our personalities at the time of our birth. As a result, people are often interested in learning more about their zodiac sign and its associated traits.

According to a YouGov poll conducted in April 2022, one in four Americans surveyed said they believe in astrology. This data indicates that astrology has become a part of contemporary culture, and the trend is not slowing down anytime soon. Today, you see constellation prints, zodiac sign t-shirts, and even horoscope-inspired jewelry online, in-store, and on the streets.

So, what launched this trend out of this world? Let’s examine the most prominent reasons and takeaways from each one.

Marketing to a Niche Interest

As mentioned previously, this fashion trend is heavily driven by the content surrounding astrology. Companies realize that a large and passionate audience is deeply interested in their zodiac signs and horoscope predictions. To tap into this market, companies have released apparel designs featuring constellations and other astrological symbols which appeal directly to these consumers.

When selling apparel to a niche market, there is less competition. Fewer companies offer the same exact products. This allows you to stand out and better serve your audience. Catering to the specific needs of a niche market helps build strong customer relationships and brand loyalty. When you understand and meet the requirements of your target market, they are more likely to stay loyal to your brand.

It’s also worth noting that focusing on a narrow market allows for better utilization of marketing resources, enabling faster product development and the creation of a devoted customer base.

Many zodiac-themed garments are all identical except for the symbols and colors, which simplifies product creation.

The Mass Appeal of Individuality

At its core, astrological-themed apparel is about expressing one’s individualism. People want to stand out and be unique. Especially in American culture, individuality is highly valued and admired. Millennial and Gen-Z consumers in the U.S. are drawn to expressing their individual spirit.

Every zodiac sign is associated with different personality traits and characteristics. Astrology-themed apparel allows people to express these traits. The idea of creating your own identity has been popularized by social media. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have made it easier for people to express themselves and be creative.

By wearing something that reflects their individuality, people can communicate who they are without saying a word.

Many independent merchants on Etsy and Amazon sell zodiac-themed apparel.

Gift-Giving and Memories

Astrology-themed apparel has become a popular choice for gift-giving, and it’s easy to see why. When the holidays roll around, you can find countless Amazon merchants, Etsy sellers, and independent boutiques offering astrology-themed apparel and accessories.

When you give someone astrology-themed apparel, you’re offering them something that holds personal meaning and significance. By tailoring the gift to the recipient’s zodiac sign or astrological interests, you demonstrate thoughtfulness and consideration.

Astrology-themed apparel as a gift also provides an opportunity for the recipient to explore their astrological interests further. It may spark curiosity and encourage them to delve deeper into the world of astrology, leading to self-discovery and personal growth.

the pulp girls

The Pulp Girls is an Instagram page that often features zodiac art. The artists behind the page sell the prints on t-shirts and other apparel.

Social Media Influence

In today’s digital age, social media platforms have become powerful vehicles for trends and cultural phenomena. Astrology, with its intriguing and mystical appeal, has found a thriving space on social media, captivating the attention of millions.

Astrology influencers and content creators share daily horoscopes, zodiac memes, and in-depth astrological analyses, creating a community of enthusiasts. As a result, people are increasingly drawn to astrology and eager to incorporate it into their lives.

Social media provides a platform for individuals to share their astrology-themed outfits, creating a cycle of inspiration and influence. Seeing others incorporate astrology into their fashion choices can motivate others to do the same. This digital exchange of ideas and visuals fuels the growing interest in astrology-themed apparel and solidifies its popularity.

The visual nature of social media content has contributed to the rise of astrology-themed apparel as a fashionable and expressive choice. It’s an exciting symbiotic relationship between social media influence and the fascination with astrology that continues to shape our cultural landscape.

What We Can Learn

As an apparel entrepreneur, it’s important to be mindful of the trends that shape our culture and drive consumer demand. Here are some key takeaways from today’s analysis of astrology apparel:

Related Niche Markets Hold Untapped Opportunities

Even when a niche market becomes saturated, you can identify neighboring markets and capitalize on their unexplored opportunities.

Here’s a hypothetical scenario: You already have a successful astrology apparel line. To expand your customer base, you could offer accessories and apparel inspired by other related markets, such as yoga and meditation. By doing so, you create additional avenues for customers to express themselves and find meaning in the things they wear.

Pay Attention to Cultural and Generational Shifts

The emphasis on individualism among Millennials and Gen-Z is an indicator that astrology apparel will perform well within those markets. As an apparel entrepreneur, you can take notice of these shifts to predict the types of apparel these audiences will gravitate toward. Then, you can create products that appeal to their values.

Analyze Gift-Giving Patterns, Especially Around Key Holidays

By examining gifting trends, consumer behavior, and preferences for personalized items, entrepreneurs can anticipate similar trends in the market and develop apparel that holds personal meaning for recipients.

Market research and surveys can provide valuable insights into consumer sentiments and gift-giving patterns. Here are a few resources we find helpful:

Keep an Eye on Social Media

Monitoring the activities of style influencers and content creators can provide insights into emerging designs and styles that resonate with the target audience. By identifying trends, you can make sure your apparel is up-to-date and reflects the latest styles.

By taking these insights to heart, you can better position your apparel business for success and provide products that speak to the hearts of consumers.

Will you join in on the latest trend, or will you even start your own? The possibilities are endless.

How Cause-Related Marketing Helps Apparel Brands Sell to Millennials

Posted on

Have you ever noticed how apparel brands seem to be speaking your language lately?

It’s no secret that millennials have become a force to be reckoned with in the consumer landscape. Clothing companies have been quick to catch on, employing some savvy tactics to connect with this influential demographic.

Cause-related marketing is one of the tactics that has been making waves lately. This approach uses a brand’s platform to spread positive messages and support causes that resonate with consumers. Think of it as a powerful alliance between fashion and social impact.

Picture this:

Your favorite apparel company partners with organizations dedicated to social justice, channeling their collective influence to raise awareness, drive change, and make a real difference in the world. It’s a win-win situation. Not only does the brand capture your attention, but it also demonstrates its commitment to the issues you care deeply about.

91% of millennials prefer brands associated with a good cause. When marketing to the millennial demographic, it pays to do good in the world.

If you’d consider launching a cause-related marketing campaign for your brand, keep reading—because we’re going to share some helpful insights and examples of apparel brands that have done it successfully.

Examples of Successful Cause-Related Marketing Campaigns From Apparel Brands

Before we talk strategy, here are a few examples to help you understand the impact cause-related marketing can create:

toms

TOMS’ “One for One®”

TOMS made a bold promise—to donate a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair of shoes they sold. This campaign struck a chord because it merged a social cause with a for-profit business model, proving that doing good can go hand in hand with being successful.

Customers went wild for it, and who could blame them? People yearned to contribute to a cause beyond just purchasing a product, and TOMS delivered that opportunity on a silver platter. Their social media savvy customers spread the word online and ignited a wave of awareness.

But TOMS didn’t stop there. They knew how to take social media engagement to the next level. They created the “One Day Without Shoes” campaign in which they urged customers to snap photos of their bare feet and share them online. It was a playful way to raise awareness and get people talking.

As the campaign gained momentum, TOMS expanded its reach by extending its support to other causes close to their customers’ hearts. They tackled issues like water scarcity, birth complications, and anti-bullying initiatives. By broadening their impact, TOMS made a lasting impression on the world.

gap

Gap’s “Gap For Good”

Let’s talk about Gap’s game-changing campaign, “Gap For Good,” which hit the scene back in 2017. This campaign was all about blending style with sustainability and social responsibility, and boy, did it make waves!

Gap called upon its customers to declutter their closets and bring their used clothing to Gap stores for recycling. It was a win-win situation, really. Customers got to do their part in reducing waste and giving their old clothes a new lease on life, while Gap showed its commitment to sustainability and making a positive impact.

But why was “Gap For Good” such a hit? Well, it all boils down to knowing your audience. Gap understood that their target market, those environmentally conscious and socially responsible folks, were itching for ways to align their fashion choices with their values. And “Gap For Good” delivered exactly that—a chance to be stylish and make a difference.

Gap didn’t tackle this mission alone, either. They teamed up with Goodwill, a trusted partner in the world of recycling and reuse, to support the Donate Movement, an initiative that educates people on why donating is good for people and the planet. This collaboration was a key ingredient in building trust with customers, showing them that Gap’s commitment to sustainability wasn’t just a baseless claim—it was a tangible reality.

Positive press coverage helped spread the word far and wide, reinforcing Gap’s image as a brand that truly cares about the planet and its people.

everlane

Everlane’s “Black Friday Fund”

Everlane, known for their commitment to transparency and sustainability, decided to flip the script on the retail frenzy of Black Friday. Instead of solely focusing on sales and profits, they pledged to donate a portion of their Black Friday earnings to a specific cause they chose for that year. Talk about shopping with a purpose!

For example, in 2019 Everlane partnered with the mighty Oceana to fund their valiant campaigns against single-use plastic. Everlane pledged to contribute $10 for every order placed on Black Friday, with a cap at a whopping $300,000.

Everlane’s commitment to transparency and sustainability resonated deeply with their customers. Shoppers were eager to be part of a movement that went beyond fashion, making an impact on the world around them.

Over the years, the Everlane Black Friday Fund has become a staple of the company’s marketing strategy, raising over $1 million for various causes. It’s more than just a one-off event—it’s a powerful movement that has become synonymous with Everlane’s mission and values.

How Outdoor Clothing Brands Build Connection Through Brand Storytelling

Posted on

Have you ever wondered why some outdoor clothing brands seem to have a cult following?

Why are people willing to pay premium prices for their products, even when there are cheaper alternatives available? And how do these brands stay top-of-mind when seasonal trends come and go?

The answer lies in their brand storytelling.

Outdoor clothing brands are masters at using storytelling to build emotional connections with their customers, creating a sense of shared values and experiences.

Today, we’ll check out a few examples of outdoor clothing brands that have successfully used storytelling to grow their empires:

We’ll also discuss how you can use the same techniques to create a powerful brand story for your own clothing line. Let’s dive in!

Why is Brand Storytelling So Effective?

Brand storytelling is all about making a deep emotional connection between the customer and the product. For outdoor clothing brands, this means using stories to show why their products are special and how they can give you an experience unlike anything else out there.

This is especially important for companies that cater to niche markets like outdoor sports enthusiasts. By sharing stories of adventure and exploration, these brands can create a whole world for their customers to immerse themselves in. This helps them feel like they’re a part of the brand and its values.

But brand storytelling is about more than just marketing—it’s about creating relationships between people. When a brand story resonates with someone, it becomes a part of their identity. It gives them a sense of belonging and connection to something greater than themselves.

Powerful Brand Storytelling Examples

Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a look at some examples of outdoor clothing brands that have used storytelling to attract customers.

Patagonia

Patagonia is insanely good at using storytelling to create a strong connection with their audience. They tell stories about people rather than just talking about their products. The brand has a dedicated section on their website called Patagonia Stories which features films, articles, and podcasts about outdoor sports, activism, and environmental work.

Patagonia Stories

One of the reasons their brand storytelling works so well is because of their authenticity. Patagonia really cares about their values and beliefs—and it shows. They use brand ambassadors to engage with their audience and share beautiful images of the outdoors.

Patagonia’s approach to brand storytelling is really focused on being authentic, purposeful, and engaging. Their commitment to sustainability attracts environmentally conscious customers who are willing to pay extra to support a brand that takes steps to reduce its footprint.

The North Face

The North Face tells a story that revolves around exploration and pushing limits. Just think about their name—inspired by the toughest side of a mountain—and how they’ve helped adventurers conquer the highest peaks of the Himalayas.

One of their recent campaigns called It’s More Than A Jacket is all about honoring their 55 years of adventure. They asked explorers from around the world to share their stories and images of their well-loved North Face products—using the hashtag #MoreThanAJacket on social media, of course.

Another example of their brand storytelling is a film called The North Face Presents: Beyond the Summit. It follows the incredible journey of Kit DesLauriers, who became the first person to ski the Seven Summits. The film dives into her quest to find a deeper purpose after accomplishing such a fantastic feat.

The North Face also goes on tours across major European cities, bringing authentic tales of exploration to life. They want to give their brand a genuine talking point and engage with their audience on a personal level.

The North Face uses brand storytelling to inspire their audience with stories of exploration, boundary-pushing, and remarkable achievements. By showcasing real people who embody these values, they create an emotional connection that motivates their audience to embark on their own adventures.

Columbia Sportswear

Columbia Sportswear knows how to tell a great brand story, and it’s evident in various aspects of the company. They have a section on their website dedicated to feature stories that cover a wide range of topics, engaging customers and fostering brand loyalty.

columbia sportswear feature stories

In the digital realm, Columbia Sportswear has made strategic investments to establish a strong online presence across multiple platforms. They recognize the significance of the digital space as a channel for effective brand storytelling.

In an SGB Media feature, Columbia Sportswear’s CEO described the brand as “humble, accessible, and democratic.” This positioning emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility, which are powerful themes in brand storytelling.

Their One Tough Mother campaign exemplifies their brand storytelling prowess. Featuring Gert Boyle, former Chairwoman of the company, the campaign highlights her strength and resilience in building Columbia Sportswear.

Columbia Sportswear’s wholesale emphasis is also part of their brand storytelling strategy. By working with smaller specialty stores and emphasizing their balanced approach to men’s and women’s products, they convey a story of accessibility and inclusivity that resonates with their customers.

Through these efforts, Columbia builds a strong and meaningful connection with their audience.

How to Craft a Compelling Brand Story

By understanding the principles of effective brand storytelling, you can create content that resonates with your audience. Here are some tips to help you craft an engaging story:

  • Focus on Emotions: Your story should evoke emotions and have a powerful impact on your audience.
  • Establish Brand Values: Outline what makes your brand unique and how it stands out from the competition.
  • Keep It Simple: Don’t get too complicated with your storytelling. Keep it simple and straightforward.
  • Include Visuals: Make sure to include visuals or videos to make your content more engaging.
  • Showcase Real People: Highlight real people who embody your brand values and capture their stories.
  • Analyze Your Results: Monitor the success of your campaigns by tracking metrics such as engagement, website visits, and conversions.

Brand storytelling is an effective way to engage customers and foster loyalty, and it should be an integral part of any company’s marketing strategy. By using compelling stories to convey your brand values, you can create meaningful connections with your audience that will last a lifetime.

Breaking the Stigma: How Mental Health Apparel is Changing the Conversation

Posted on

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s time to reflect on the progress we’ve made as a society to break the stigma surrounding mental health.

As more individuals—including prominent figures like celebrities and influencers—openly share their personal experiences with mental health challenges, the conversation has become increasingly destigmatized.

This rise of mental health apparel in recent years has also provided more momentum to the movement.Today, we’ll examine the growing popularity of mental health apparel, especially among younger generations.

We’ll also examine its possibilities for encouraging mental health dialogue, as well as strategies for making these items even more successful at raising awareness.

The Rise of Mental Health Apparel

In recent years, there’s been a notable increase in the sale of apparel specifically tailored to mental health topics.

This surge can be attributed to both a growing movement to actively engage in conversations that challenge societal stigmas, and the desire to promote mental health and overall wellness. In fact, in 2021 McKinsey estimated the global wellness market had reached over $1.5 trillion, with annual growth between 5-10%.

It seems that younger generations, in particular, are driving this trend. In 2022, around 70% of millennial and Gen Z consumers surveyed in the US and the UK indicated that they were likely to buy products focused on mental health and wellness.

The rise of mental health apparel has also been closely linked to the growing number of celebrities and influencers who openly discuss their struggles with mental health.

By sharing their experiences, these public figures have helped destigmatize and even normalize conversations around mental health challenges, further encouraging their fans and followers to join the movement.

Given younger generations’ heightened exposure to social media and celebrity influence, clothing featuring supportive messages, symbols, and designs has also emerged as a popular way to express solidarity in promoting mental health.

The Potential Benefits of Mental Health Apparel

Mental health apparel can help raise awareness and destigmatize mental health issues by:

Encouraging Conversations

Wearing mental health-themed clothing can act as a conversation starter, prompting discussions about personal challenges and experiences.

By openly displaying supportive messages and designs, individuals invite others to engage in meaningful dialogue to foster understanding and empathy.

Promoting Self-Expression

Mental health apparel also allows individuals to creatively share their stories and openly express their emotions and experiences.

Fostering a Sense of Community

By wearing mental health apparel, individuals signal both their commitment to breaking the stigma and their support for those affected by mental health challenges.

This shared mission can help create a sense of belonging and camaraderie among those who may otherwise feel isolated or misunderstood.

Raising Awareness and Funds

Another upside of mental health apparel is that it often supports charitable initiatives and non-profit organizations dedicated to providing mental health resources and services.

Consumers can help raise funds and increase visibility for these causes by purchasing and wearing these products.

Strategies for Success

Creating effective and impactful mental health apparel requires thoughtful planning and execution. But if done right, the benefits can be enormous.

A post shared by IDONTMIND (@idontmind)

For example, Mental Health America’s IDONTMIND campaign has raised over $500,000 for mental health organizations since launching in 2017.

As one of our incredible customers, IDONTMIND has continuously used custom apparel that promotes mental health awareness to further its cause.

Read more about our collaboration in our interview with Eddie, Co-Founder of IDONTMIND.

Here are some specific strategies your brand can also adopt for success:

Partner with Mental Health Organizations

Collaborating with reputable mental health organizations or advocacy groups can ensure that your messaging is accurate, sensitive, and supportive. These partnerships also lend credibility to your brand and further demonstrate your commitment to making a positive impact on mental health awareness.

Use Inclusive or Identifiable Messaging

Adopt inclusive or identifiable language and imagery to ensure your apparel appeals to a diverse audience. For instance, IDONTMIND intentionally used the phrase “I Don’t Mind” on their shirts to prompt questions and conversations.

Using thoughtful messaging ensures that products both resonate with a broad range of individuals and open the door for deeper conversations about mental health.

Prioritize Quality

Durable, high-quality products are more likely to be well-received by consumers. By investing in better production practices, you demonstrate your business’ commitment to its customers and community.

Leverage Social Media and Your Local Community

Use social media platforms to showcase your mental health apparel, share stories, and engage with your customers. You can also partner with other local organizations and community members to amplify your message and reach a wider audience.

Measure Impact and Gather Feedback

Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of your mental health apparel by gathering feedback from customers and tracking sales data.

This information can help you refine your products, messaging, and marketing strategies to maximize your impact on promoting mental health awareness.

Choose the Right Manufacturing Partner

Collaborate with a reliable manufacturing partner, such as Scrappy Apparel, to ensure high-quality products and timely delivery. This frees up time for you to focus on promoting awareness and supporting mental health initiatives.

Start a Movement with Custom Apparel

As demonstrated through the success of the IDONTMIND campaign, custom apparel has emerged as a powerful tool in breaking the stigma and changing the conversation around mental health.

By encouraging open dialogue, promoting self-expression, and fostering a sense of community, clothing can play a huge part in breaking down barriers and destigmatizing mental health challenges.

Breaking the stigma around mental health is a powerful movement, and your brand can be part of this change. But to create impactful mental health apparel, you’ll need a reliable and experienced manufacturing partner.

That’s where Scrappy Apparel comes into play. We’re dedicated to helping your business create luxury-level clothing with our turnkey and high-volume apparel solutions. We even offer a private labeling program so you can take true ownership of the apparel with your brand name and logo on it.

The Star Wars merchandise empire has been incredibly successful, and a large part of that is due to its ability to capitalize on the attention surrounding movie releases.

When a new Star Wars movie comes out, fans rush to buy merchandise related to the film, creating an opportunity for the empire to make sales.

By striking while the iron was hot and quickly releasing lots of merchandise, they were able to take advantage of the hype surrounding each release and generate lots of additional revenue.

Andy Warhol once said: “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” This has become increasingly true as everyone’s attention spans have become shorter and shorter. Therefore, it’s more important than ever to capitalize on hype quickly.

Gaming Meets Fashion: The Billion-Dollar World of Video Game Merchandise

Posted on

Whether you enjoy modern video games or prefer a match of good old-fashioned checkers, you can’t deny how powerful the gaming industry is in 2023. The global esports market was valued at $1.22 billion in 2021, and it’s projected to grow to $5.48 billion by 2029.

Professional video game tournaments have become some of the world’s biggest events, with teams competing for million-dollar prize pools. Brands are taking notice and sponsorships are skyrocketing as a result.

With billions of dollars at stake, it’s not just fun and games. Grab your controller and get ready for an epic journey into the lucrative world of gaming merchandise.

video game merchandise

The History and Evolution of Video Game Merchandise

The origins of video game merchandise can be traced back to the early ’80s. Classic games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong were some of the first games to offer merchandise.

In the beginning, these items were limited to simple novelties like stickers, keychains, and action figures. You couldn’t really find them in mainstream stores, either. They were primarily sold in specialty stores and gaming retailers.

In the ’90s, the gaming merchandise industry started to pick up speed. That’s when we started to see t-shirts, hats, and other accessories play a bigger role in the industry. Gaming-themed clothing became a staple accessory in the urban fashion scene.

Today, video game merchandise includes a much wider range of items. We’ve even seen prominent fashion brands collaborate with some of the most popular games in the world! For example:

What do these fashion powerhouses and video game companies have in common? Well, they’re both highly influential and interested in making money, so the collaborations make perfect sense in our opinion.

How Streamers Make Money Selling Apparel

Have you ever heard someone talk about being a “streamer” and wondered what on Earth they’re going on about? Well, live streaming is an increasingly popular form of content creation on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

The people who create these streams are called “streamers.” They have become some of the most influential people in the gaming industry. These streamers have amassed a substantial following, and their fans are always eager to show their support.

Streamers often partner with brands and retailers to create custom clothing lines, which have proven to be extremely popular with their fanbases. But how much money can you make from selling streamer apparel?

Some streamers make anywhere from $50 to $1500 per month, while others make tens of thousands. It’s important to remember that high sales don’t always result in high profits. Last year, gaming star Sykkuno opened up about his merch launch by saying that his profit margins were “absolutely garbage” after selling out his items.

Even if you have a large fanbase and make big sales, you need to factor in the cost of manufacturing, inventory management, and shipping when calculating your profits. It’s just as important to ensure you have the right partner to help you navigate the complexities of running a merchandise business.

Types of Video Game Apparel Available

music festivals monetize t-shirts

How Music Festivals Monetize T-Shirts: From Woodstock to Coachella

Posted on

If you scroll through social media every day, you might already know we’re in the midst of Coachella season. Have you ever wondered how music festivals generate millions of dollars in revenue beyond ticket sales?

You’ve probably guessed it: T-shirts!

Music festival t-shirts have come a long way throughout the decades. They’ve evolved from simple commemorative souvenirs to highly sought-after fashion items, and they play a key role in each festival’s branding and marketing strategies.

If you’re interested in learning how these events create hype for their merch and turn it into cash, keep reading!

origin of festival t-shirts

Uncovering the Origin of Festival T-Shirts

We did our research and tried to find out the origin of the very first music festival t-shirt. However, there isn’t really a consensus about where the trend started.

It’s most likely that music festival t-shirts originated from Woodstock in the ‘60s.

Woodstock organizers didn’t anticipate the turnout at the event in 1969. (This was at the beginning of modern music festival culture—think of Woodstock as the grandfather of the Coachella and Ultra we know today.)

Woodstock was held at the height of the Vietnam War. The event allowed people to escape from the horrors of war and join together in the spirit of peace, love, and understanding.

Woodstock was more than just a music festival. It was a celebration of community, of coming together as one.

Long story short, the Woodstock organizers planned for 50,000 people to show up. In reality, there were about 400,000 attendees. You get the picture.

Woodstock decided to produce t-shirts featuring the festival’s logo and sell them to attendees as a way to commemorate the historic event.

The shirts generated significant revenue for the festival organizers. This success prompted other music festivals to follow suit and begin selling their own t-shirts.

t-shirt fashion

Evolving Into Modern-Day Fashion Statements

In the early days of music festivals, t-shirts were primarily sold at the event itself and were often simple designs with the festival logo and lineup on them. However, as music festivals became more popular, t-shirts began to evolve as well.

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, music festival t-shirts took on a new life as fashion items. Grunge fashion and alternative rock music both gained popularity—and t-shirts became a staple for both.

Fast forward to today. With the rise of streetwear and the popularity of vintage clothing, music festival t-shirts have become collectors’ items.

Some people search far and wide for historic shirts from iconic festivals such as Woodstock. There’s a whole market for vintage t-shirts, just like vinyl records.

One of the key drivers of the festival t-shirt industry is the increasing popularity of music festivals themselves. In the early 2000s, music festivals were still a relatively niche market, with a few major events like Coachella and Bonnaroo drawing large crowds but many others struggling to attract attendees.

Today, events like Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) attract 100,000+ attendees every year. That’s a massive target market for merch sales!

festival t-shirt business

Down to Business: How Modern Festivals Monetize T-Shirts

If you’ve been in our world for long enough, you already know there’s a lot that goes into making a t-shirt.

You can’t just slap a design on it and call it a day. Here are a few of the strategies festivals use to increase t-shirt sales:

Branding and Marketing

Every shirt turns the wearer into a walking billboard. It’s a phenomenal branding opportunity for both the event and the performers.

By strategically placing the festival’s name and logo in a prominent area of the t-shirt, such as the front or back, festival organizers can create a strong association between the festival and the garment.

This creates a sense of excitement and anticipation for the festival, encouraging attendees to purchase new t-shirts and continue to promote the event even after it has ended.

Exclusive Design and Limited Availability

Festivals often create unique designs for their t-shirts that are only available during the event. By limiting their availability, organizers can increase demand and create a higher perceived value.

Online Sales

Exclusivity is one strategy, but evergreen availability is another. Festivals can increase revenue by selling t-shirts online both before and after the event. This creates a longer selling season and increases exposure to a broader audience who may not have attended the festival but still want to support the brand.

Package Deals

Festivals frequently offer package deals where the price of a t-shirt is bundled with the price of the ticket or other festival merchandise. This encourages attendees to purchase all of their festival-related items at once, increasing revenue and creating a sense of loyalty to the event.

Celebrity Endorsement

Some festivals collaborate with high-profile celebrities or influencers to promote their t-shirts. This can create a buzz and generate hype around the festival, drawing in more attendees and increasing t-shirt sales.

Freebies and Giveaways

Festivals can give away free t-shirts as part of a larger promotion, such as offering a shirt with the purchase of a VIP ticket or running a social media contest.

Examples of Successful Festival Merchandising Campaigns

In recent years, festivals have shown that creative and unique merchandising campaigns can have a significant impact on revenue and brand recognition.

By offering a variety of products and designs, festivals can attract a wide range of customers who want to support the event and take home a memorable souvenir from the experience.

Let’s look at some examples!

coachella

Coachella

Coachella is known for its highly sought-after festival t-shirts, which feature new designs each year. The brand also sells hats and bandanas.

bonnaroo

Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo has a wide range of merchandise in its online store, including t-shirt designs from previous events.

edc

Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC)

EDC’s parent company Insomniac has an extensive online store that features t-shirts and other merch from its events.

Inspiration Behind Luxury Prints

The inspiration behind luxury prints is diverse and varied, drawing from different cultures, art, history, and natural elements. The source of inspiration determines the color, composition, and motifs used in the prints. Each collection is tied to a core theme that helps keep the luxury prints cohesive with the brand’s image and identity.

Some high-end fashion brands take inspiration from natural elements like flora and fauna, and this is reflected in their signature prints. For example, Gucci’s iconic floral prints are inspired by the vibrant blooms of the botanical gardens in Florence.

gucci floral

Historical events, cultures, and movements also often influence luxury prints. Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana incorporates Baroque-inspired designs into its collections, reflecting its Italian heritage.

dolce gabbana

Similarly, African prints have been popular in high fashion in recent years, showcasing the rich cultural history of the African continent. Luxury prints can also draw inspiration from art movements and styles such as Art Deco, Abstract Expressionism, and Pop Art. Prints inspired by art reflect the cultural references and creative sensibilities of the times in which they were created.

Creative Process and Techniques

The creative process of making luxury prints for high-end brands is a well-thought-out process that requires precision, creativity, and attention to detail. Some of the steps include:

Fabric Selection

Choosing the right fabric determines if the print will stand the test of time and provide a luxurious experience for the wearer. High-end fabrics like silk, cotton, and wool are commonly used because of their quality and durability.

Color Selection

The right color palette is vital when creating high-end luxury prints. Fashion designers must choose colors that align with the brand identity and complement the selected fabrics.

Design Development

This is where the magic happens! A designer may sketch the motif or pattern or create it in graphic design software before physically printing it on the fabric. Often, designers run through a series of mockups and test prints before finalizing their masterpiece prints.

Printing Techniques

Luxury prints can be created using a variety of printing techniques, including screen printing. The optimal technique depends on the number of colors in the design, the fabric and ink used, and other factors.

Quality Control

Once the luxury prints are complete, quality control is vital to guarantee they are of the finest quality. Every garment goes through a series of checks for quality, durability, and consistency with its intended design.

Branding and Marketing

After creating a print, marketing can build awareness and establish brand recognition for luxury brands, enabling them to stand out from their competitors. The use of luxury prints in a brand campaign is a powerful tool for creating a brand identity, promoting new products, and attracting new customers.

When you build a brand from scratch, consistency is crucial to build brand recognition. Luxury brands must use their signature prints consistently across many of their products. This creates familiarity around the brand’s aesthetic and strengthens the association between the brand and the print.

Luxury brands also incorporate their signature prints into their marketing materials, including advertising campaigns, website design, and packaging. This increases brand recognition and recall, ensuring the brand’s print designs stay top-of-mind for consumers. Collaborating with other brands, artists, or designers to create custom prints is a great way to build brand recognition and engage consumers in a more creative and personal way.

No Sweat Clothing: Elevate Your Brand with Custom Performance Wear

Posted on

We all know the feeling: You’re running a marathon, and your clothes are sticking to you. Your skin is burning hot, and there’s an uncomfortable dampness that won’t go away.

There’s only one solution: It’s time to invest in no sweat clothing, designed with both comfort and performance in mind!

As an increasing number of people dedicate themselves to staying fit and healthy, finding the right type of athletic wear is essential for optimal performance.

But with so many factors at play, from breathability, moisture-wicking capabilities, to quick-drying times, it can be hard for businesses to create the perfect choice for athletes or even outdoor employees.

So, what does it take to manufacture no sweat clothing without breaking a sweat? We’re going to share our expert insights with you today!

no sweat clothing

What Exactly is No Sweat Clothing?

No sweat clothing is a type of athletic wear designed for optimal performance and comfort.

It typically features lightweight, breathable materials like polyester or spandex that are moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and can regulate body temperature to keep you cool and dry—even during your most intense workouts.

The fabric used in no sweat clothing is often chosen to ensure maximum ease of movement while also providing ventilation and insulation.

No sweat garments fit snugly, so wearers can move freely without any restrictions or disruptions. This makes it ideal for those who participate in sports or active outdoor activities.

Manufacturing Techniques

To create the perfect apparel, manufacturers must use a combination of state-of-the-art techniques and materials.

For example:

  • Special weaving patterns
  • Temperature control technology
  • Advanced fabric treatments

These approaches ensure that clothing is lightweight and breathable yet still able to provide warmth when needed.

Some brands will also incorporate waterproofing, reflective accents, odor control agents, and even antimicrobial treatments.

As you can see, no sweat clothing is designed with both comfort and functionality in mind.

optimal fabrics

Optimal Fabrics

When making no sweat clothing, manufacturers also need to pay close attention to the type of fabric and the number of layers to create clothing that’s both comfortable and practical.

As you can probably guess, understanding how sweat works is a great starting point.

Sweat naturally soaks into fabric. This can be more pronounced with certain materials, such as cotton or other natural fibers, which absorb moisture more readily.

As sweat absorbs into the fabric, it can leave noticeable damp spots or stains, and it may also cause the fabric to cling uncomfortably to the skin. Not ideal!

As the name implies, no sweat clothing aims to minimize the negative effects of sweat. The optimal fabrics are:

  • Lightweight
  • Breathable
  • Durable
  • Quick-drying
  • Moisture-wicking

Polyester is one of the best fabrics for performance wear because it meets all the criteria above. It’s also an amazing choice for any sublimation printing project!

No sweat fabrics provide the right balance of heat regulation and insulation. Some may also be woven together to provide increased breathability, while others are treated with moisture-wicking materials and finishes to keep the wearer cool and dry.

outdoor worker

Depending on the fabric you use, you may be able to incorporate reflective materials in the form of a web or coating to reflect body heat back onto the wearer. This significantly reduces the amount of sweat athletes produce during activities. Some reflective material also has antimicrobial properties that inhibit bacterial growth and reduce odors.

Manufacturers can use specially-designed mesh panels to maintain better airflow and temperature regulation inside their garments. This helps keep athletes cool when participating in high-intensity activities.

Maximizing Profits: Introducing Apparel to Your Business Strategy

Posted on

There’s never been a better time to jump into the apparel game. This industry offers business owners great opportunities to diversify their revenue streams.

Whether you’re hoping to elevate your brand to the next level or just capitalize on the current trend, you can find success with the right strategy and approach.

Today, we’re sharing our tips to help you manufacture and sell apparel to generate more revenue. Put on your best (fashion-forward) thinking cap, and let’s get started!

Why Sell Apparel?

Fashionable, high-quality clothing is always in demand. As of 2023, the U.S. fashion industry is valued at approximately $343.70 billion.

With the rise of e-commerce and the convenience of online shopping, consumers are looking for one-stop shops that offer a variety of products. Apparel is a high-margin product that has the potential to generate significant revenue for a business.

Offering apparel can provide an additional steady income source, especially if your items are on-trend and in high demand. Once you find the right approach, this could result in a powerful boost in profits and long-term success.

Businesses in All Industries Can Benefit

Apparel is wearable marketing. When your customers wear your brand, it increases exposure for your business. It can also enhance customer loyalty and engagement, especially if the apparel aligns with the values and aesthetics of your company.

Want to see how businesses in different industries capitalize on apparel? Here are some examples of the types of customers we work with at Scrappy Apparel:

youtube influencers

YouTube Influencers

By adding a fashionable apparel line to their existing offerings, YouTube influencers can enhance their credibility and reach a larger audience. Clothing items can help influencers make a lasting impression on their followers, allowing them to monetize their influence by selling quality clothing pieces.

Having an apparel line can help YouTube influencers better engage with their viewers, creating a unique community around the brand. Through this community, influencers can build trust, create meaningful relationships with fans, and generate more sales.

e-commerce brands

E-Commerce Brands

E-commerce brands have long realized the value of diversifying their product lines to increase revenue. Adding a fashion-forward apparel line is one way e-commerce brands can take advantage of this strategy and give their customers more options. By offering trendy and stylish clothing items, e-commerce brands can attract new customers and engage existing ones, creating opportunities for increased sales.

By offering clothing items, e-commerce businesses can provide a complete shopping solution for customers looking for multiple items in one place.

home services

Home Services (HVAC, Plumbers, Movers, Landscaping)

Home services businesses—such as those offering HVAC, plumbing, moving, or landscaping services—benefit from incorporating one central uniform line. Uniforms provide these businesses and their employees with the opportunity to create a unified, professional look that fully reflects the company’s branding and mission.

Some manufacturers (like Scrappy) allow employers to save money by ordering items in bulk instead of buying each uniform individually. This can save employers tremendous amounts of money on manufacturing costs.

Uniforms help customers remember the specific home services business and recognize them in their community or area, increasing customer confidence and brand recognition in the long run.

youth sports organizations

Youth Sports Organizations

For youth sports organizations, apparel lines are incredible for brand awareness.

The key advantages include:

  • Creating a recognizable brand for the team
  • Increasing visibility for the organization
  • Providing a steady stream of income that can help cover costs associated with running a successful program

With an apparel line, it’s also easy to create custom designs that reflect the values and mission of the organization, establishing a unique look that stands out from other teams. In that way, custom apparel can promote team spirit and loyalty among players and parents, which can be beneficial in terms of increased participation and support.

Actionable Steps You Can Take to Start Your Apparel Line Today

Now that we’ve explored the benefits of starting an apparel line, let’s talk about how you can do it:

  • Develop a creative design that reflects the organization’s brand and mission. Focus on creating products that will be attractive to potential customers and unique enough to stand out in the marketplace.
  • Set a budget and pricing based on product materials, production costs, overhead expenses, supply chain efficiency, and competitive market conditions. Here, you should also decide if and when you’d like to produce mass-market items, versus creating smaller runs of limited-edition pieces. It’s vital to ensure that selling prices are competitive, yet profitable enough to cover associated costs.
  • Market the apparel line by leveraging existing channels such as social media or email campaigns. Design promotional campaigns that feature easy access to purchase links, engaging visuals, and incentives like discounts or giveaways for customers who buy early or in bulk orders.
  • Create a customer service plan outlining policies around returns/exchanges and shipping times/costs for domestic/international orders to ensure customer satisfaction with orders placed online or at physical locations, if applicable.

Trend Analysis: The Modern Hat

Posted on

Hats have been around for a long time—even as far back as ancient Egyptian times. The upper-class Egyptians shaved their heads to keep cool and then covered them with headdresses. And so, the history of hats began!

From there, hats have evolved into all sorts of shapes and sizes, from the bowler hat invented by a British soldier in 1849 to the tiara worn by royalty.

Hats have always been more than just a way to keep your head warm or protect it from the sun—they’ve also been a way to show off wealth and status. Did you know that during the Renaissance, hats were so popular that there were laws that regulated their size? That’s right! You couldn’t wear just any hat on your head back then—it had to be regulation size!

And let’s not forget about the iconic top hat, which was made famous by Abraham Lincoln in the mid-1800s. It’s safe to say that throughout history, hats have been a staple accessory for both fashion and function. So, next time you put on your favorite hat, remember that you’re part of a long and stylish tradition!

Fashion is ever-changing and evolving, and it can be hard to keep up with the latest trends. As styles come in and out of fashion quickly, it’s important to stay on top of what is in Vogue so you don’t look outdated. Today, we will cover Scrappy’s predictions for this year’s hat trends, so you can make a statement in 2023!

beanie

Beanies

Beanies have been a popular fashion accessory for many years, and we predict that this trend will still be going strong in 2023. You can wear beanies with almost any outfit to add an extra touch of style. They come in a variety of colors, fabrics, designs, and shapes that can make any look stand out from the crowd. You can pick a beanie to match your mood or the season.

Beanies also provide warmth during colder months while still looking fashionable. A huge plus is that they’re easy to care for. Just throw them in the washing machine when needed! Whether you’re looking for something classic and reserved or bold and trendy, you should consider picking up a beanie to go with your next fit.

bucket hats

Bucket Hats

Bucket hats are an attractive option because they offer sun protection, comfort, and style. They have been a mainstay of the fashion world for many years, but they’ve recently seen an increase in popularity that shows no signs of slowing down. From classic designs to bold prints, there’s a bucket hat out there for everyone. Their continued prevalence in the fashion world suggests that they will only become more popular as we move into 2023.

Whether you’re looking for something stylish or practical, a bucket hat is sure to fit the bill. They are often worn at music festivals and have even graced fashion runways. You can pair bucket hats with almost any outfit. With so many styles available, it’s not hard to find one that matches your aesthetic perfectly!

balaclavas

Balaclavas

Once associated with criminal activity or extreme weather conditions, balaclavas are now worn by some of the biggest names in fashion. Celebrities like A$AP Rocky and Justin Bieber have been spotted wearing balaclavas as part of their streetwear looks. Yeat, an up-and-coming rapper, even made the balaclava part of his signature style, featuring it on several album covers and in many videos.

What makes balaclavas so appealing is their versatility—they’re both practical and stylish, providing warmth while also adding a touch of edge to any outfit.

They also allow you to keep a low profile if you want to go incognito. You can up your hat game by pairing these with another hat on top, such as a wide-brimmed hat. While you can wear this look during the summer as well, be mindful of the material you choose and the temperature outside.

baseball caps

Baseball Caps

Baseball caps are not just for sports lovers. Sure, this hat is known to work with sporty styles, but it is also considered a classic. In 2023, the popularity of baseball caps is expected to reach new heights as more people choose to embrace this timeless, laid-back style.

Whether you’re rocking a cap with a streetwear look or going for an athleisure vibe, you’re sure to hit a home run with this hat. This look protects you from the sun’s rays and can add drama to a ponytail. From bold patterns to neutral tones, baseball caps are set to become even more popular in the coming year.

Want to Make a Statement with a Custom Hat? We Have You Covered!

We use top-of-the-line materials and processes to craft intricate patterns and designs that will make your hat stand out from the rest. Our goal is to create a custom hat that fits your needs.

One way to easily make your design stand out is by using cut-and-sew manufacturing. Cut-and-sew manufacturing is a specialized process that involves cutting and assembling fabric components into a high-quality finished product.

At Scrappy Apparel, cut-and-sew manufacturing is one of our specialties. Our approach ensures you can get the exact hat you want without any surprises. We will not begin production until we know you absolutely love the design.

Our quick turnaround times and free delivery to your doorstep (in the USA) mean you won’t have to wait long for your high-quality apparel. You can also opt for our private labeling program, so it looks like your hats were made in-house.

We offer price breaks for larger orders. Our services are perfect for you if you want to buy in bulk. Here are our minimum order quantities (MOQs) for custom hats:

  • Private Label: 250 pieces

Pros and Cons of Amazon FBA as an Apparel Sales Channel

Posted on

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is quickly becoming a popular choice among e-commerce merchants, due to its reliable and convenient service. According to a 2018 Statista report, Amazon FBA was used by approximately 73% of Amazon.com sellers in the US alone. Amazon FBA allows sellers to store their products in Amazon fulfillment centers, and they will take care of the shipping, delivery, and customer service.

With Amazon’s impressive reach and scale, Amazon FBA makes it easy for businesses to generate sales from customers around the world. Amazon FBA also provides detailed reports on inventory, performance, and customer feedback so businesses can make informed decisions.

However, Amazon FBA comes with a few drawbacks. It can be quite costly for businesses. Amazon charges fees for warehousing, fulfillment, and returns. Amazon also has strict rules when it comes to product labeling and packaging requirements, which can be time-consuming to adhere to. The e-commerce giant is known to suspend accounts if its rules are not followed, which can be a major inconvenience for businesses.

Amazon FBA is a great option for businesses that want to expand their reach, reduce shipping costs, and offer customers an efficient delivery process. Amazon FBA makes it possible for businesses to save time and money, while still providing a quality service that customers appreciate.

But is it the right sales channel for your business? Let’s dive into the specifics so you can make the best decision for your company.

amazon fba

Pros of Amazon FBA as an Apparel Sales Channel

While there are many fulfillment services to choose from, Amazon FBA stands out in some key ways.

They offer assistance with fulfillment, storage, and shipping all in one convenient package.

Here are the pros associated with Amazon FBA:

  • Responsive 24/7 customer care team and high customer satisfaction
  • Allows for international distribution of apparel products and expansion into new markets
  • Get the benefits of Amazon Prime
  • Access to customers around the world and more storage space
  • Detailed performance reports
  • An efficient delivery process and reduced shipping costs

cons of amazon fba

Cons of Amazon FBA as an Apparel Sales Channel

Amazon FBA is not without its challenges. Amazon’s strict rules and policies can be difficult to navigate. Amazon has a zero-tolerance policy for any sellers who are not compliant with Amazon’s standards.

Here are the cons associated with Amazon FBA:

  • Requires businesses to store their products in Amazon fulfillment centers, which may not be practical for some merchants.
  • High fulfillment and storage fees due to Amazon’s commission rates (apparel fulfillment fees ranging from $3.43 to $161.11 per item)
  • Susceptible to inventory issues such as stockouts or discrepancies
  • May require additional customer service support depending on the business’s needs
  • Limited branding opportunities
  • Requires businesses to adhere to Amazon’s rules and guidelines or risk penalties such as suspension of selling privileges.

Is Scrappy’s Fulfillment Service a Better Alternative?

Scrappy Apparel is the ultimate Amazon FBA alternative for apparel businesses looking to take their operations to the next level.

Scrappy’s fulfillment service allows you to store your products in our secure warehouses and take care of shipping, returns, and inventory management on your behalf.

With Scrappy, you get access to hands-on support from our fulfillment experts, plus additional services such as cut & sew manufacturing and private labeling.

Our passionate team of fulfillment experts will work with you every step of the way to help you grow your business.

What Makes Scrappy Apparel Different?

Amazon is the largest e-commerce company in the world, but it might not be the best sales channel for your business. Here’s what makes Scrappy different:

Brand Building Process (BBP)

If you want a proven, structured process to take your brand to the next level, start manufacturing apparel with Scrappy! The first step is to get a quote from us. (We get back to you within 24 business hours!)

Then, we will connect you with a Scrappy Sales Representative. After your project details are finalized, we will provide pre-production layout(s) so you can see exactly what your apparel will look like when it’s finished. Finally, your order will be scheduled and delivered right on time.

Our BBP has led to thousands of satisfied customers over the years, and your experience will be no different!

cut & sew manufacturing

Cut & Sew Manufacturing

Cut & sew manufacturing is a process of creating products by cutting fabric into pieces and then sewing them together to create the final product.

We like to say cut & sew puts the “custom” in custom apparel because you can create a truly unique garment for your clothing line.

Unlike Amazon FBA, we help you with the production process. Instead of creating your apparel on your own, we have a team of skilled professionals who specialize in apparel production. Our team takes the time to understand your needs and can help you create high-quality garments tailored to your specifications.

private labeling

Private Labeling

Amazon FBA gives you limited branding opportunities. At Scrappy, we offer private labeling for apparel businesses. Our private labeling service will make your items stand out. Our team will work with you to create unique labels for your products and take care of the entire process from start to finish. This is an affordable way to add value and differentiate your brand from the competition.

Folding and Polybags

Your apparel will come to you retail-ready. Scrappy will neatly fold, bag, and apply size stickers to your apparel. Garments will stay clean and protected during storage and transit.

Scrappy is the Future of Selling Custom Apparel Online

Apparel businesses have a number of options when it comes to selling their products. Amazon FBA has been a popular choice, but the drawbacks may make it difficult to navigate.

It can be a convenient, hands-free option, but the costs and policies might not work for every seller. Scrappy’s fulfillment service is an Amazon FBA alternative that offers many advantages.

Scrappy focuses on making production and distribution as easy as possible for brands. Our BBP ensures your custom apparel fulfills all your needs, and our team is available to answer any questions you may have.

So, what are you waiting for? The future of apparel sales is on the horizon, and Scrappy Apparel will help you get there!

The Influence of Black Culture on Fashion Trends

Posted on

Fashion trends constantly evolve and often reflect the cultural zeitgeist of a given era. From the Harlem Renaissance to contemporary streetwear, Black Culture has been instrumental in setting trends and influencing the fashion industry.

Despite their significant contributions to the industry, Black fashion designers, models, stylists, and other industry professionals have often faced systemic barriers and discrimination in their careers.

Recognizing the impact of Black Culture on fashion acknowledges their talent and hard work. It also helps to promote greater diversity and inclusivity in the industry.

In honor of Black History Month, let’s explore how Black Culture has shaped fashion trends throughout history and continues to inspire designers today.

The Harlem Renaissance

The Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and ’30s was a pivotal moment in American history. This movement significantly impacted culture—including art, literature, music, and fashion.

Hence the name, the Harlem Renaissance originated in the African-American community of Harlem, New York. It was considered the “rebirth of African-American arts” because it empowered the Black community to develop a sense of identity through fashion. It was a time of self-expression and cultural pride.

We can credit this era as the grandfather of many streetwear trends we see today. It encouraged people to move away from drab, conventional clothing. Instead, it encouraged them to embrace vibrant patterns, bold colors, and daring silhouettes.

streetwear and sneaker culture

Streetwear and Sneaker Culture

In addition to the Harlem Renaissance, did you know that high-end streetwear has roots in hip-hop? In the early days, it was all about standing out from the crowd—and Black Culture pioneered this style of dress.

How Hip-Hop Music Influenced Streetwear

Rappers like Biggie Smalls, A Tribe Called Quest, and Outkast brought their own style to the genre, mixing bold statements with comfortable clothing.

For example, Biggie contributed to the legacy of the Coogi sweater. Even after he passed away, rappers like A$AP Rocky and Drake still donned the Coogi look.

Many brands have collaborated with rappers and hip-hop artists to release limited-edition clothing lines. This trend lends to the exclusivity of streetwear and shows how much influence Black Culture has had on fashion.

old school vs. new school

Old School vs. New School

In the context of hip-hop, old school fashion trends refer to the clothing and accessories that were popular during the early days of the genre, particularly in the 1980s and early 1990s.

These trends include oversized clothing, tracksuits, gold chains, bucket hats, and high-top sneakers, among others. This style was often associated with the “golden age” of hip-hop and reflected the culture and values of the time.

New school fashion trends in hip-hop have evolved to reflect the changing cultural landscape and the influence of contemporary fashion. These trends include more fitted clothing, designer labels, and a greater emphasis on individual style and creativity.

As you may know, athleisure is all the rage nowadays. The trend has become popular among hip-hop artists and fans, with collaborations between fashion brands and musicians becoming increasingly common. Streetwear and luxury fashion labels are also part of the new school look.

Despite these changes, some old school fashion trends have remained popular in hip-hop, such as baggy jeans and graphic t-shirts. Additionally, some newer trends have been influenced by the old school, such as the resurgence of retro sportswear and vintage sneakers.

Both old school and new school fashion trends have played an essential role in shaping the style and identity of hip-hop culture.

sneaker culture

The Impact of Sneaker Culture

Sneaker culture has been a huge part of hip-hop since the 1980s, when Run-DMC released their hit single “My Adidas” and made the brand iconic.

Today, sneaker culture is even more popular, with limited-edition collaborations between brands and musicians becoming increasingly common.

Black artists like Run-DMC and Jay-Z have made sneakers a staple of their style. Jay-Z has a long history of collaborating with Puma. In fact, he wore the Puma Ralph Sampson Lo sneaker at the 2023 Super Bowl.

Many celebrities have their own signature sneakers, and some have even launched their own sneaker lines. Read more about sneaker culture and how it has been influenced by the Black community.

fashion icons and representation

Fashion Icons and Representation

Modern fashion icons and representation contribute to Black Culture, and vice versa. Black fashion designers, models, and icons have long been at the forefront of the industry, pushing boundaries and redefining what it means to be fashionable.

These individuals have used their platforms to advocate for inclusivity and diversity in fashion, contributing to broader recognition and celebration of Black Culture in the industry.

Here are a few of the names that have had a lasting impact on fashion:

Dapper Dan

Dapper Dan is an iconic fashion designer who became famous for creating designs that blended high-end luxury with streetwear. He is known for creating outfits for numerous celebrities, including LL Cool J and Eric B. & Rakim. Dan is credited with creating the “ghetto fabulous” style popular in the 1980s and 1990s.

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell is a British model and actress who is one of history’s most recognized and influential Black models. She has graced the covers of numerous fashion magazines and has walked the runway for some of the most prominent fashion designers in the world. Campbell has also advocated for diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry.

Virgil Abloh

The legendary Virgil Abloh was an American fashion designer known for his work as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. He is also the founder of the fashion brand Off-White. Abloh was credited with bringing streetwear to the forefront of high fashion. Unfortunately, Abloh passed away in Nov. 2021, but his legacy will live on.

manufacture streetwear

How to Manufacture Your Own Streetwear-Inspired Designs

Scrappy Apparel can help you manufacture streetwear-inspired apparel by providing you with the resources and expertise to bring your vision to life. We are a one-stop-shop for apparel from the waist up. We can produce t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and more.

If you don’t know where to start, here are a couple of ideas to spark inspiration:

The Monster Print

At Scrappy, we call large format screen printing The Monster Print. It’s our signature approach to manufacture designs that are larger than life. Most apparel companies have a max print size of 14″ x 17.” But with The Monster Print, we will print the design as big as the smallest garment allows for the entire run of garments. Our approach gives you maximum creativity and design freedom.

All Over Sublimation Printing

Sublimation printing is an excellent way to create streetwear-inspired designs that are bright, bold, and full of color. Instead of printing a design onto the garment, sublimation transfers ink directly into the fabric. This results in a more vibrant and saturated design that will never crack or fade.

Custom Hats

We have one of the best custom headwear programs in the world. (Seriously!) Whether you want a trucker hat or a beanie, we have the tools to create the perfect custom hat for your brand. We offer a wide range of customization options, including embroidery and private labeling.

Hats are a staple of streetwear. With our custom headwear program, you can create hats that represent your brand and your culture.

Why Choose Scrappy Apparel?

At Scrappy Apparel, we understand the importance of representation in fashion. We are committed to helping you create apparel that celebrates culture and inspires others.

We ship free to your doorstep, or you can opt into our fulfillment program to have us take care of the inventory management and shipping processes for you.

A post shared by NYFW (@nyfw)

How the Fashion Weeks Began

America’s first fashion show dates back to 1903 at Ehrich Brothers, an NYC specialty store. By the 1920s, fashion shows had become common—but they were all held behind closed doors.

In 1943, the genius fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert (a.k.a. “The Godmother of Fashion”) came up with the concept of hosting many shows during the same week. She called this “Fashion Press Week.” The purpose of the event was to offer alternatives to French fashion during World War II, when travel to Paris was restricted.

The first official Paris Fashion Week occurred in 1973. The Milan Fashion Week concept, called “Settimana Della Moda,” rose to fame in 1975. And in 1984, London Fashion Week was born as a cluster of events that all took place in a single season. The events were organized by the British Fashion Council.

Today, these four cities are known as the “Big 4” of Fashion Week. And with all their shows happening during the same week, the fashion industry can get a full preview of what’s hot in each city.

How Popular are the “Big 4” Fashion Weeks Today?

The numbers don’t lie. Let’s look at some stats.

New York Fashion Week

Each year, over 200,000 guests attend New York Fashion Week, and there are more than 300 shows throughout the week. The event generates over 900 million dollars for the city’s economy.

Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week generated over 39 million actions and 152 million video views across various social media platforms during the event. Now, that’s what we call influence!

Milan Fashion Week

2022 was Milan Fashion Week’s best-performing year to date, despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic presented over the last few years. The event ended with over 90 billion euros in revenue.

London Fashion Week

In 2019, London Fashion Week attracted visitors from over 49 countries.

As you can see, the Big 4 Fashion Weeks are as popular as ever. These events are some of the most influential in the entire fashion industry.

Now that you understand the significance of Fashion Week season, let’s talk about how you can stay up-to-date with the latest trends.

How to Tap Into Fashion Week Trends

(Even if you aren’t attending any events)

Although attending the actual shows can give you an edge over the competition, it’s not necessary to physically be there. You don’t have to be at Fashion Week to stay up-to-date with the trendiest designs and labels (thanks to the Internet and social media!)

Here are some of our best tips for keeping up with Fashion Week trends:

1. Follow Fashion Influencers on Social Media

Some of the most influential people in fashion today are Instagram and YouTube influencers. Following their accounts will give you first-hand access to the hottest new trends before everyone else sees them.

2. Subscribe to Fashion Newsletters and Magazines

Many popular fashion magazines and websites have daily or weekly newsletters that feature exclusive previews, interviews, and reports from Fashion Week events around the world. This can help you stay ahead of the curve when it comes to what’s trending during Fashion Week season.

3. Set up Google Alerts for Related Key Terms

Google Alerts is a service from Google that allows you to monitor what is being published and said on the Internet about any topic you choose. With Google Alerts, web results, news articles, blog posts, or other content related to your chosen topic are sent directly to your emails as they become available. You can create multiple alerts with different search criteria and frequency of delivery.

Google Alerts are a great way to get notified whenever your favorite designers, labels, and trends are mentioned in the media. This will help you keep an eye on what’s new and fresh during Fashion Week season.

4. Use Social Listening Tools

Social listening tools enable you to track conversations about specific topics on social media. This can help you see what people are saying about certain shows, designers, labels, and trends before and during Fashion Week. This can give you an insight into which trends are resonating the most with your target audience.

For example, Mention is a tool that allows you to track conversations surrounding target keywords. (Ex. New York Fashion Week)

You can see what people are saying about Fashion Weeks, your brands, your competitors, or any key phrases you think would be helpful for your research. Pretty cool, right?
