As an apparel manufacturer, we understand the importance of representing different cultures and traditions within the U.S.

We are proud to live in a country that is home to people from many different backgrounds, and we love being able to show our support for diversity through the clothes we make.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to give a special shoutout to our Hispanic community by sharing some of our favorite t-shirts that celebrate their culture!

But first, let’s talk about what Hispanic Heritage Month is all about.

The History Behind Hispanic Heritage Month

This celebration commemorates the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic people in the United States. Hispanic Heritage Month was first established as a week-long celebration in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan extended the celebration to last a full month.

Now, Hispanic Heritage Month spans from September 15 to October 15. The date was chosen because it coincides with the independence days of a number of Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the many ways that Hispanic people have enriched our country. We celebrate their vibrant culture, delicious food, rich history, and important contributions to the arts, sciences, and politics.

We also remember the challenges that Hispanic people have faced—and continue to face—in this country. From discrimination and prejudice to violence and deportation, they have faced struggles throughout history. But despite these challenges, the Hispanic community has persevered and made incredible contributions to our country.

The Difference Between Hispanic, Latino, and Spanish

When talking about Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s important to understand the difference between “Hispanic,” “Latino,” and “Spanish.”

The term “Hispanic” refers to people who speak Spanish or are from Spanish-speaking countries. This includes people from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and many other countries in Central and South America.

The term “Spanish” refers to people who are from Spain. While Spain is a Hispanic country, not all Hispanics are Spanish. The phrases “Latino, Latina, and Latinx” refer to people who are from Latin America.

It’s essential to use the correct terms when talking about Hispanic Heritage Month because it shows that you respect and understand the different cultures and traditions within the Hispanic community.

Honoring Hispanic Heritage

Created by Breezy Bilingual

Breezy Bilingual is a t-shirt shop for teachers, owned by Jaenelly Rocha. She sells a variety of fun bilingual tees on her website.

The shirt in the video features the flags of many Spanish-speaking countries, including Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and more. Rocha said she created it because a lot of people expressed to her that they had a hard time finding cute t-shirts to wear in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

This shirt is a great way to start conversations about the many different countries that make up Hispanic heritage.
